Suresh Kumar rejected free Indian Premier League match tickets offered to legislators, taking a strong stand against what he called “VIP culture” and “politics of entitlement”. While many cutting across party lines, including Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok, demanded tickets, Mr. Kumar criticised the practice as damaging to the credibility of politicians/legislators and said such privileges cutting across party lines, including under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had continued. State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra and BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, have also opposed the distribution of IPL passes. Following the demand for free tickets by legislators in the legislature, KSCA has decided to issue two tickets each to legislators. In a press statement, Mr. Kumar said, “That this VIP culture and politics of entitlement thrives cutting across party lines in the regime headed by self-declared socialist Chief Minister is certainly appalling. “It is for this very reason the image, credibility and reputation of the politicians as a class have nose-dived in the eyes of the people,” he said. He further criticised lawmakers for seeking privileges despite past tragedies, saying such actions show insensitivity and erode public trust. Meanwhile, speaking in Mysuru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked, “Whoever wants to go can go. Earlier one ticket was given, now two tickets are being provided. If any MLA is not interested to avail tickets, they need not.” Published – March 28, 2026 06:55 pm IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
