BJP lacks independent electoral strength in Tamil Nadu: CPI(M)

CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam has claimed that BJP lacked independent electoral strength in Tamil Nadu and was riding piggyback on AIADMK.

Addressing an election campaign at Pechiparai in Kanniyakumari district on Sunday, he said the BJP would struggle to face celections independently in the State, which is why they use the ‘AIADMK mask’. Voting for the BJP-AIADMK alliance would strengthen the BJP. “This time, they [BJP] are contesting in 27 constituencies. However, the lotus symbol appears in 35 constituencies of Tamil Nadu, most probably for the first time in the State’s history.”
