The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formally launched its Assembly election campaign from Thrissur on Saturday (February 7, 2026).

Nitin Nabin, who visited Thrissur for the first time after assuming charge as party president, received an enthusiastic welcome from party workers. Following the reception, he inaugurated the BJP’s Assembly election campaign by personally writing campaign slogans on the wall at the No. 164 booth at Kalathode, symbolically flagging off the party’s poll outreach.

The BJP chose Thrissur to launch its campaign in view of the party’s landmark victory in the last Lok Sabha election. Party leaders said the political change that began in Thrissur would spread across the State in the forthcoming Assembly elections, signalling a wider transformation in Kerala’s political landscape.

State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, State general secretary A.S. Suresh, State secretary M.V. Gopakumar, district president Justin Jacob, and other leaders were present on the occasion.
