The Indiranagar police arrested a bike taxi rider for allegedly molesting a woman passenger during a ride from BTM Layout to Indiranagar in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Khaja, 21, a resident of DJ Halli.

The police said the 25-year-old complainant, a resident of Indiranagar, had booked the ride around 8.10 p.m. on March 26. During the journey, the rider allegedly behaved inappropriately and repeatedly touched her despite her objections. The complaint further states that he even sought permission to touch her inappropriately.

Sensing danger, the woman contacted a friend and informed her about the situation. Acting on the friend’s advice, she began recording a video of the incident. Despite noticing that he was being recorded, the accused allegedly continued his misconduct.

“The complainant has shared video footage of the incident as evidence,” a senior police officer said.

Based on the complaint, the Indiranagar police registered a case of sexual harassment and arrested the accused.
