Bihar’s Information Technology (IT) Minister Shreyasi Singh on Thursday (March 26, 2026) asserted that Bihar’s youth possess immense talent, determination, and a huge potential for innovation. “Until now, the world has largely recognized Bihar’s youth only as IAS and IPS officers, but today, young people from the State are making their mark in the field of technology as well,” Ms. Singh said. She was addressing, as the chief guest, during the 10th foundation day celebration of the Incubation Centre at IIT Patna’s Bihta campus. IIT, Patna Incubation Centre signed two Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with All Indian Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Patna and JHPIEGO. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Singh said that the Bihar government is developing a strong startup and technological innovation ecosystem in the State. “Our objective is not only to promote startups, but also to provide them with all the necessary infrastructure, guidance, and support- from idea to delivering the product to users,“ she said. Events like this at prestigious institutions such as IIT, Patna will prove to be an important step toward strengthening the state’s technological ecosystem, she said and added that “the credit for bringing technological facilities to every household in the state goes to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.” Ms. Singh said that the IT Department has developed a state-of-the-art startup workspace at Biscomaun Tower in the state capital where “plug-and-play” IT infrastructure facilities are available for carrying out work. This facility is provided to any startup for a period of one year. She further said that Software Technology Parks have also been established in Darbhanga and Bhagalpur in Bihar. The Minister urged all the young innovators and entrepreneurs present here to set big goals, innovate fearlessly, and develop new solutions to real technological challenges faced by the society. Preparations are underway to open a research park at IIT Patna, she added. She said that “I come from the world of sports where I never learnt to accept defeat. In sports, there is victory or new lessons learnt from the loss.” IIT Patna Director Prof. T.N. Singh said that incubation centres are being operated in four engineering colleges of the State with the efforts of IIT Patna. JHPIEGO’s Country Director Dr. Amit Shah also addressed the gathering.
