After raising the issue with District Election Officer Sukhaputra, the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate for Rajapalayam Assembly constituency, T. E. Karthikeyan, staged a protest in front of the Old Bus Stand condemning lack of action. However, within minutes, the police pacified the protesters promising action. Meanwhile, officials rushed to the spot and later the municipal storage point, located on the Old Bus Stand premises, where the sports kits had been stocked, was sealed by the Revenue officials. An official said that Flying Squad Team also seized some of the sports kits that had been already moved by the municipal officials. The official said that the sports kits under the Kalaignar Sports Kits scheme of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu for all the 42 wards in the town had arrived two months back. The distribution had begun on March 13 but not all the kits were handed over. The total number of kits sealed, seized was yet to be ascertained, officials said.
