Addressing a huge gathering on the penultimate day of electioneering, Mr. Vikramarka said, “The previous BRS rulers betrayed the people and looted public money, leaving the State in a precarious financial position. After coming to power, the Congress government implemented a plethora of pioneering welfare schemes for the welfare of all.” These welfare initiatives include construction of Indiramma houses, free travel for women in the TGSRTC buses, free fine rice and free electricity of up to 200 units to households under Gruha Jyoti scheme. He said, “The previous BRS government failed to conduct Group-I recruitment examination during its 10-years tenure. The Congress government has successfully conducted Group-I, Group-II and Group-III examinations and filled 70,000 government jobs within two years of coming to power.” The “people’s government” initiated a slew of concrete measures to support women self-help groups by extending interest-free loans and providing skill development training in their pursuit of economic empowerment, he added.
