A still from ‘Beef’ Season 2. | Photo Credit: NETFLIX The makers of Beef Season 2 have dropped the trailer of the series. Created by Lee Sung Jin and produced by A24, the show will return to Netflix on April 16. The second season introduces a fresh conflict centred on two couples whose lives become entangled after a seemingly minor incident. The official storyline of the series reads, “Newly engaged Ashley Miller (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Charles Melton) are set against their boss, Joshua Martín (Oscar Isaac), and his spouse, Lindsay Crane-Martín (Carey Mulligan). A single encounter triggers chess moves and manipulations that ripple far beyond the country club where they work.” “The narrative unfolds within the elite setting of the country club, where both couples seek the approval of the establishment’s billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh Jung). She is simultaneously dealing with a personal controversy involving her second husband, Doctor Kim (Song Kang Ho).” According to Lee Sung Jin, the upcoming season aims to subvert expectations by focusing on characters who are closer in age. “We thought, ‘What if we actually made them a little bit closer in age and highlight that generational divide?’”, he told Netflix. “The intention with Beef was always to have it as an anthology,” Lee noted, adding that the conflict in the new season takes on a more passive-aggressive tone, focusing on suppressed anger within professional environments. The new season comprises eight episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long. Lee returns as creator, showrunner and executive producer. Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, stars of Season 1, also serve as executive producers, alongside Jake Schreier, Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny.
