The implementation of the 42% quota for Backward Classes (BC) in Telangana based on population and caste census across the country with a separate OBC column were among the demands made at a meeting on BC reservations, social justice and political representation held in Hyderabad on Friday (March 6, 2026).

It was held on the occasion of the visit of Anil Jaihind Yadav, chairman of the OBC Wing of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), to Hyderabad. National BC Dal president and BC Reservations Sadhana Coordination JAC chairman Dundra Kumara Swamy met Mr. Yadav and discussed several national and State-level issues concerning the welfare and rights of Backward Classes.

Among other demands, the leaders urged Centre to establish a separate OBC Ministry at the Union level for the welfare of BC communities; introduction of a BC Bill in Parliament to provide political reservations for Backward Classes; allocation of a special budget for the comprehensive development of BCs; financial support to protect traditional occupations and small businesses of BC communities.
