The incident occurred near Pillar No. 294 on the PVNR Expressway in Shivarampally Jagir, where a group of auto drivers staged a road protest, claiming that fuel scarcity had severely affected their livelihoods. Despite repeated assurances from the State government about adequate supply, drivers said they had been waiting in queues for hours without success. According to the police, two drivers climbed atop a nearby cell tower as part of the protest, triggering high drama at the spot. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers to manage the situation and ensure safety. The three were later brought down safely and taken into custody. The protests come amid reports of panic refuelling across the city, which has led to long queues of up to 1 to 2 km at several fuel stations, particularly in residential areas. They demanded that the authorities ensure immediate and adequate supply of CNG to prevent further disruption. Meanwhile, Hyderabad police issued a traffic advisory stating that congestion was observed from Aramghar towards Mehdipatnam along the PVNR Expressway near Pillar No. 294 due to the protest. Commuters were advised to avoid the stretch and use alternative routes.
