An auto driver was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by a Fast Track Special Court in LB Nagar in a case involving sexual assault of a minor girl registered by the Pahadishareef police, apart from imposing a fine of ₹42,000. The court also directed that ₹5 lakh be paid as compensation to the victim. The convicted person was identified as 26-year-old Methre Ajay, an auto driver from Jalpally village in Balapur mandal of Ranga Reddy district. According to the police, the case was registered in 2024 after the accused was found to have committed aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a minor girl who was under his care. The offence attracted provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act along with other sections of the Indian Penal Code. The Fast Track Special Court for expeditious trial and disposal of rape and POCSO cases in Ranga Reddy district at LB Nagar delivered the judgment on March 16.
