Andhra University (AU) is set to host a two-day National Symposium on Advances in Scientific Research on February 27 and 28. The event is a dual celebration, marking the university’s prestigious Centenary Year and National Science Day.

Speaking at the Academic Senate Hall on Thursday, AU Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.P. Rajasekhar announced that the symposium will feature nine world-class experts, including four Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award winners.

The symposium will kick off 10 a.m. at the AU Convention Centre on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam.

On Day one, keynote addresses will be delivered by experts from IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore, and IIT Guwahati. Topics will range from advanced physics to biotechnology. The evening will conclude with science-themed short films and skits performed by students.

On Day two, a massive Science Rally featuring 3,000 students will march from the Administrative Building to the Physics Department to garland the statue of Sir C.V. Raman. Expert lectures will continue with professors from IIT Kanpur and IISER Tirupati.

The Vice-Chancellor also shared upcoming events and major updates regarding the university’s growth, in the press conference.

He said that a ₹10 crore Aurobindo Skill Development Centre will be officially inaugurated on March 5.

A special program called “Anveshan” is being launched in collaboration with the Pharmacy Council of India.

For the first time, AU will open its world-class laboratories to students from affiliated colleges for summer internship programmes.

An All India Bodybuilding Championship will also be conducted shortly, he added.
