The Thanjavur District Railway Users Association (TANDRUA) welcomed the Indian Railway’s decision to add Kumbakonam and Papanasam in the list of remote location wait list (RLWL) quota stations of Chennai Egmore-Tiruchendur Express from the coming financial year. In a statement, the association said hitherto the tickets booked from Kumbakonam and Papanasam remained in the Pooled Quota Waiting List of Thanjavur. The Railway Board, following repeated requests from the association, has now extended the remote location waiting list status to Kumbakonam and Papanasam for the tickets booked for travel in Chennai Egmore-Tiruchendur Express (20605) from the first of week of April, which would benefit pilgrims hailing or recommencing their pilgrimage to Tiruchendur from Kumbakonam and Papanasam areas, the association added.
