The Association of Self-Financing Arts, Science and Management Colleges of Tamil Nadu (ASFASMTN) has urged the State government to ensure uninterrupted Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply for higher educational institutions that provide hostel and canteen facilities. In a representation to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, association president Ajeet Kumar Lal Mohan and secretary T. Sethupati said lakhs of students residing in hostels entirely rely on the mess facility for their daily food. Also, a large number of day scholar students depend on the food in the college canteens during academic hours. Restrictions in the supply of LPG cylinders meant for commercial use are causing serious operational difficulties for these educational institutions, and the shortage directly affects the students.
