Minister for Social Justice R. Bindu distributed scooters with side wheel, hearing aids, artificial limbs and other assistive devices to the differently abled in Thiruvananthapuram district here recently. The distribution was held at a camp as part of the Social Justice department and Kerala State Differently Abled Welfare Corporation’s Shubhayatra scheme at LMS compound, Palayam. The Shubhayatra scheme aims at ensuring mobility of the differently abled who find it difficult to walk and make them self-reliant. Forty-eight people were given scooters; fixed deposit certificates for ₹20,000 each to 15 children; hearing aids to 43 people; and other assistive devices to 10 persons. Kerala State Differently Abled Welfare Corporation chairperson Jaya Daly M.V. presided over the function.
