Following India’s bid to host the 2028 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, a two-member delegation of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA), comprising competition director C.K. Valson and secretary-general A. Shuggumarran, inspected the indoor track of the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday. “It was a site visit as India bid for the 2028 Asian Indoor Championships. We looked at hotels, the stadium and the indoor facility. The state government is keen to host it. If everything goes well, then they will host it here,” Valson told The Hindu. The AAA team, accompanied by Athletics Federation of India (AFI) treasurer B.E. Stanley Jones, met high-level officials of the Odisha Government. The final decision on the host will be taken at the AAA Council meeting in May. The country has also expressed its interest in hosting the 2028 World Indoors at the Kalinga Stadium, which will host the inaugural National Indoor championships on March 24 and 25.
