Srimukhalingam temple chief priest Naidugari Rajasekhar on Monday urged the Archeological Survey of India Director General Yadubir Singh Rawat to take steps for the establishment of a museum at the temple premises in Srikakulam district. He met the senior official in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum while explaining the importance of the temple. He said: “The temple which was constructed in the 8th century would attract more pilgrims with the construction of a museum.” He also requested the government to accord special priority for the Chakrateertham festival organised yearly after Mahashivaratri. He said it is the biggest festival celebrated where over one lakh people take a holy dip in the Vamsadhara river on the lines of Kumbhamela of the Ganga river.
