She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been admitted a day earlier following extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. Doctors confirmed that the immediate cause of death was multi-organ failure after a rapid deterioration in her condition. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news, with last rites scheduled in Mumbai. Born in 1933, Bhosle’s career spanned over eight decades, beginning as a child singer in the 1940s and evolving into one of the most versatile and prolific voices in world music. She recorded over 12,000 songs across multiple languages and genres including cabaret, ghazals, classical, pop and more, redefining what a playback singer could be in Indian cinema.
