Addressing presspersons in Dharwad on Thursday, consultant electrophysiologist Abhinav Anand said that the clinic will focus on managing conditions such as tachycardia (abnormally fast heart rate) and bradycardia (abnormally slow heart rate). “Now, patients will not have to travel to Bengaluru for arrhythmia treatment,” he said. The new facility offers advanced electrophysiology services such as EP Study (a detailed testing of the heart’s electrical system), RFA (Radiofrequency Ablation), which is a procedure to neutralize the specific heart tissue causing irregular rhythm, and device implantations, which include fitting pacemakers and ICDs (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators), for long-term heart rhythm management. Head of the Cardiology Department at the centre Vivekanand Gajpati said that they have a multi-disciplinary team of cardiologists and electrophysiologists. Centre’s Medical Superintendent Keerthi P.L., Marketing Head Somanath Rayakodi and Deputy Manager Dundesh Tadkod were present.
