Two Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials being arrested in a bribery case shows that there is zero tolerance for corruption in the national capital, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday.

“Strict action. No exceptions. No protection for anyone. We are unwavering in our commitment to clean and transparent governance,” stated a post on the official X handle of the Chief Minister’s Office.

The CBI had arrested Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Mishra and Administrative Officer Devanshu Gautam of the MCD’s Shahdara North Zone on Monday. According to the probe agency, it had received a complaint that the Administrative Officer sought ₹4 lakh on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner for forwarding a favourable inquiry report to the competent authority. The CBI laid a trap and caught the Administrative Officer while taking the bribe. Later, the Deputy Commissioner was also arrested.
