Subbarayudu inspecting the arrangements at Pulicat Bird Sanctuary ahead of the ‘Flamingo Festival 2026’, in Tirupati district on Wednesday. | Photo Credit: HANDOUT Expecting a higher tourist footfall for the current season, the Tirupati district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the two-day ‘Flamingo Festival 2026’, which is all set to be held at the Pulicat Bird Sanctuary in Sullurpeta constituency on January 10 and 11. The festival was revived following a brief gap in 2025. Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, Atakanithippa Bird Museum, B.V. Palem boating point, Ubbalamadugu waterfall, Irukam island are the spots which are generally attract the tourist crowd and have been decked up for the festive occasion. Accompanied by Sullurpeta MLA Nelavala Vijayasri, Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar inspected the arrangements on Wednesday. The Collector announced that free buses would be arranged to carry tourists from Nelapattu, Sullurpeta and B.V. Palem to the areas flocked by the migratory birds. Bombay Natural History Society will conduct a two-day workshop on biodiversity at nearby Sri City, while B.V. Palem will witness adventure sports like paragliding and hot air balloons. Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu said that security was beefed up in the tourist spots to meet the higher footfall. He said the entire area would be monitored not only through the existing CCTV system, but also by deploying drone cameras. He also gave directions for a better traffic management system.
