Around 30 students of a private engineering college were injured, one of them grievously, when the college bus they were travelling in overturned at Mondikunta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Friday. The bus was heading to KLR Engineering College in Paloncha from Manuguru when its driver reportedly lost control of the wheel. Around 50 students were travelling in the bus at the time of the accident. The injured were rushed to the Government Area Hospital in Bhadrachalam. Barring a few, all others were treated as outpatients. A grievously injured student was shifted to a hospital in Khammam for better treatment. A delegation of CPI(M) leaders led by party’s State committee member, A.J. Ramesh, visited the injured students at the hospital in Bhadrachalam. They alleged that the accident occurred due to over speeding and added that the bus was carrying more students than the prescribed limit. They demanded the officials of the Road Transport Authority (RTA) to initiate urgent steps to prevent overloading of school/college buses to ensure safety of students.
