The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has bagged a national award for successful implementation of the automatic announcement system at bus stations.

APSRTC Chief Engineer (IT) Y. Srinivasa Rao received the award at the ‘Governance Now – 6th Digital Transformation Summit and Awards’, held in New Delhi from Kailashnath Adhikar, MD of ‘Governance Now’, on Friday.

Passengers from different regions and linguistic backgrounds regularly visit bus stations for various travel needs. With the objective of providing clear, timely and accurate information regarding bus arrivals and departures, platform numbers, route details and other essential travel-related announcements, the APSRTC has implemented the automatic announcement system at major bus stations across the State.

The system has significantly enhanced passenger convenience by ensuring uniform, audible and real-time dissemination of information, thereby reducing confusion and improving overall travel experience. The effective and passenger-centric use of digital technology in service delivery has earned the public sector transport organisation a national-level recognition.

Expressing happiness over the achievement, APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao congratulated the officers and staff who contributed to the successful implementation of the system. He said the award reflected the corporation’s commitment to leveraging digital technologies for enhancing passenger services and reaffirmed the organisation’s focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
