Reiterating his innocense in the evidence tampering case, former Transport Minister Antony Raju said that there was no evidence to implicate him in the case, which is politically motivated. The court’s findings that he was guilty of the charges levelled against him prove that innocent people can be punished in court, and he has decided to fight it legally, he told the media in Thiruvananthapuram here on Saturday. “After a detailed investigation, a report was submitted to the High Court that three other accused were found guilty in this case. That report was accepted by the High Court then. After that, in 2002, during the A.K. Antony government, eight police officers led by three DySPs investigated this case and proved that I was innocent in the case,” he said. Later, an investigation ordered by the Oommen Chandy government just before the 2006 assembly elections and a report submitted in three months led to the present verdict, he said. Stating the law will take its own course, he said he will accept the court order and will further fight the case legally.
