A state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence-based research and innovation laboratory was inaugurated at the Anna University on Wednesday. The lab is equipped with advanced computing systems and high-performance workstations worth Rs. 1 crore to support research and practical learning of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Robotics. Housed at the Technology Research Park at the University, the lab will serve as a hub for research projects, internships, workshops, hackathons, and industry-driven certification programmes and is expected to enhance students’ technical competencies and prepare them for global career opportunities in AI-driven domains. The Vaidharma Laboratory, as it is named, was formally donated to the Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) Department of College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) by its 1990-batch alumnus Sundar Vaidhiyanathan, CEO and Co-founder, Karsun Solutions. V. Kumaresan, Registrar-in-charge, Anna University, P. Hariharan, Dean, CEG, and M.A. Bhagyaveni, Head, Department of ECE, CEG were present.
