Sivaganga district police detained 310 Nutritious Meal and Anganwadi workers who were involved in a road blockade in Sivaganga on Wednesday. Federation of Tamil Nadu Anganwadi and Nutritious Meal Workers’ Associations has been protesting for the 16th consecutive day in Sivaganga, demanding permanent employment status. During the protest on Wednesday, the protesters raised several demands, including filling up 60,000 vacant positions in Anganwadi and Nutritious Meal centres, providing a 50% reservation in government job recruitments for qualified Nutritious Meal and Anganwadi workers who have completed 10 years of service and granting maternity leave and casual leave. Following the demonstration, they engaged in a road blockade near the bus stand. Consequently, the police detained 310 people who participated in the protest.
