In a major step towards modernising agricultural governance, the Andhra Pradesh Department of Agriculture on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Wadhwani AI, New Delhi, to deploy artificial intelligence for improving service delivery and decision-making in the farm sector.

Andhra Pradesh Director of Agriculture Manazir Jeelani Samoon and J. P. Tripathi, Director (Agriculture), representing Wadhwani AI, signed the MoU in the presence of Executive Officer and Special Chief Secretary (Agriculture and Cooperation) Raja Sekhar.

The agreement marks a significant move towards adopting advanced digital technologies to strengthen the State’s agricultural ecosystem. Under the partnership, AI-driven tools will be used for real-time crop assessment, early warning systems for pest and disease outbreaks, and data-based advisory services for farmers.

The initiative aims to provide timely and accurate information to enable proactive interventions and minimise crop losses. By integrating predictive analytics and intelligent decision-support systems, the collaboration is expected to enhance agricultural productivity and improve resource-use efficiency, according to a press release.
