MOORTHY The ancient ‘Vanni’ tree on Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple premises has fallen during the recent rain which lashed the district. At Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, the ancient ‘Vanni’ tree, one of the sacred temple trees (Thala Viruksham), and the Vinayagar shrine located beneath it are of great significance, devotees said. Near the ‘Vanni’ tree, the temple administration has set up a prasadam kitchen (madapalli) to prepare food like tamarind rice, pongal, and other items.
