PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, who on Monday, was elected to the Rajya Sabha again, has called Chief Minister M.K. Stalin a “modern avatar of Emperor Nero who played the fiddle while Rome was burning” following the brutal murder of two persons sleeping inside a house in Tirusulam near Pallavaram in Chennai and the murder of of an elderly man and the sexual assault of his wife in Uthangarai in Krishnagiri district.

In a statement, Dr. Anbumani said the DMK government was in a celebratory mood though law and order had deteriorated to a great extent, pointing out that the murders of an autorickshaw driver in Manamadurai in Sivaganga district and Sivakumar from Gummidipoondi area.

“In Tamil Nadu, wherever one looks — east, west, north, or south — murders and robberies are occurring. Sexual assaults have increased. None of the murders that occurred in the past 24 hours were sudden, emotionally driven killings. All of them were murders carried out in a planned manner and under the influence of alcohol. If the police had been vigilant, these murders could have been prevented. But the police functioning under the inactive DMK government are merely watching without the ability to prevent these murders,” he said.

Dr. Anbumani also underlined how, in recent times, elderly people living alone in farmhouses had been murdered, adding that people would deliver a verdict against the DMK in the upcoming assembly election.
