The Anantapur district police, which undertook special drives for the safety of citizens during the night and to curb the drug menace under “Operation Night Safety” and “Operation Vajra Prahar” respectively, have now placed special focus on preventing minors from driving vehicles. Under the “Stop Minor Driving” programme, the police have been conducting special inspections to nab minors driving vehicles. They are also counselling their parents, in addition to imposing fines and seizing vehicles. Rash and negligent driving, as well as performing stunts for social media by minors, has been on the rise in the recent past.
