The Kalaburagi district unit of Dr. Ambedkar Jayanthotsav Samiti will be organising a six-day Ambedkar Arivu Utsav 2026 at Hirapur Cross here from April 10 to commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of Ambedkar. Utsav samiti president Hanumanth Itagi, addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, said that the Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti Utsav will feature special lectures by scholars and progressive thinkers from across the State, highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s life, his contributions to social justice and his role in shaping the Constitution. The programme will also include a life-inspired stage play on Ambedkar, musical performances and also felicitation ceremonies to honour individuals who have excelled in various fields. On April 6, the samiti will conduct district-level essay and speech competitions on Ambedkar, the Constitution and social reformer Jyotirao Phule. A mass eye donation drive involving over 135 participants will be held on April 12. Notable speakers, including Jnanaprakash Swamiji, H.R. Mahesh, Aradi Mallaiah Kattera, Kotiganahalli Ramaiah, Kavita Reddy and Appagere Somashekhar, will deliver speeches during the event, Mr. Itagi added.
