Air Travellers Association Srikakulam District chapter members speak to media at the Bhogapuram international airport. | Photo Credit: BY ARRANGEMENT Air Travellers Association’s Srikakulam chapter president Natukula Mohan on Monday urged the government to extend the metro rail connectivity up to Srikakulam to ensure better connectivity between Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam via Bhogapuram international airport. He said that the metro rail proposed between Anakapalli to the airport can be extended up to Srikakulam which is 45 km away from Bhogapuram airport region. Speaking to The Hindu, he said that the metro rail connectivity will spur economic activity between Bhogauram and Srikakulam along National Highway-16 (Chennai-Kolkata). Mr. Mohan submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu who promised to negotiate for the development of metro rail to benefit air passengers and other commuters.
