The All India Professionals Congress (AIPC), Kerala, on Saturday (February 21, 2026) launched the ‘Office Wellness Policy for Professionals 2026,’ a framework aimed at strengthening workplace dignity, fairness, and accountability.

The initiative follows the death of Anna Sebastian Perayil, a young Ernst & Young (EY) professional, reportedly due to work-related stress last year. The policy was released in Kochi by Congress and AIPC leaders, including Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan.

The document addresses rising concerns over workplace stress, job insecurity, digital overreach, and disruptions caused by emerging technologies. Major proposals include legally accountable employment practices, strong anti-discrimination norms, transparent wage systems, regulated work hours, and a clearly defined Right to Disconnect.

It also prioritises mental health through stress audits, counselling support, wellness leave, and improved wellness infrastructure in offices and IT parks.

The policy recommends creating a State Professional Workers’ Welfare Board and a Kerala Office Wellness Improvement Programme to monitor and upgrade workplace standards. It also includes provisions for menstrual leave and mandatory annual upskilling days.

“The policy incorporates inputs from over 2,500 professionals and was refined through 10 public consultations,” AIPC State president Ranjith Balan said, urging policymakers and industry to adopt the framework.
