The AIADMK has finalised seat-sharing arrangements with its allies for the upcoming Assembly elections, allocating 12 of the 41 constituencies in central districts to its partners in the NDA alliance. According to party sources, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam has been allotted Tiruchi West (Tiruchi), Mannargudi (Tiruvarur) and Thiruvaiyaru (Thanjavur). The Pattali Makkal Katchi will contest from Kilvelur (SC) (Nagapattinam) and Mayiladuthurai (Mayiladuthurai). The BJP has secured the largest share among allies, with five constituencies — Gandharvakkottai (SC), Aranthangi and Pudukkottai (all in Pudukkottai district), Thanjavur constituency and Tiruvarur constituency (in their respective districts). The Tamil Maanila Congress has been allotted Kumbakonam (Thanjavur), while Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi will contest from Kunnam (Perambalur). The remaining 29 constituencies in the central region will be contested by AIADMK. The central belt comprises Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Karur districts. With seat-sharing largely settled, parties are expected to step up campaigning across the region in the coming days.
