The AIADMK has allotted 11 constituencies, reserved for Scheduled Castes, to its allies. Of them, five – Avanashi, Rasipuram, Gandarvakottai, Vasudevanallur and Manamadurai – have been earmarked for the BJP; three – Periyakulam, Ottairpidaram and Ponnamallee -for the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and two – Kattumannarkoil and Kilvelur -for the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK). The 11th seat – Kilvaithinankuppam (K.V. Kuppam) – has been set apart for the Puratchi Bharatham. Totally, there are 44 SC constituencies in the State. In addition to the two SC seats, the PMK has been allocated Perambur, Ambatttur, Thiruporur, Uthiramerur, Sholinghur, Polur, Gingee, Vriddhachalam, Rishivandhiyam, Vikravandi, Dharmapuri, Pennagaram, Salem (west), Salem (north), Mayiladuthurai and Jayankondam. In respect of the AMMK, the other eight seats are Saidapet, Tirupattur (in the northern part of TN), Madathukulam Tiruchi (west), Mannargudi, Thiruvaiyaru, Karaikudi and Nanguneri. Ranipet, Kumbakonam, Oddanchatram, Erode (west) and Killiyoor have been given to the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar); Pallavaram and Kunnam to the Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi and Rajapalayam to the Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam. Releasing the list of constituencies identified for various constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami said all parties of the NDA were equally strong and they were being treated equally. No party would come under any pressure to contest on the symbol of one party or the other, Mr Palaniswami observed.
