Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu paying tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Amaravati. The Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (AGICL) has recently invited a request for proposal (RFP) for the selection of a firm to undertake the design–build (DB) of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee “Smruthi Vanam”, which will be developed at Venkatapalem village, on approximately 2.5 acres of land. The site houses a statue and pedestal of Vajpayee, around which the memorial complex will be designed. The tenders for the project are active on the Andhra Pradesh e-procurement portal, with bidders allowed to submit proposals between March 17 and April 4. According to the proposal, the project will be developed as a significant public memorial and cultural asset in the Capital, commemorating the life and legacy of the former Prime Minister. The memorial is planned as a dynamic public space promoting learning, reflection and civic engagement, rather than a static monument. AGICL, a special purpose vehicle constituted by the government of Andhra Pradesh, is responsible for planning support, project development, procurement and infrastructure implementation in the Amaravati Capital Region. It operates in alignment with the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), the statutory body overseeing master planning and policy direction. Phase 1 works include landscape and public realm development such as pathways, plazas, lawns, seating areas, accessibility features, and integration around the statue, along with lighting, drainage and utilities. Phase 2, which is not covered under the current tender, will include construction of the exhibition-cum-museum, interpretation centre, library and conference hall.
