The Adivasi Girijan Sangham has demanded a hike in the Minimum Support Price of tamarind, turmeric and cashew. Leaders of the sangham called on Girijan Cooperative Corporation Vice Chairperson and Managing Director S. S. Shobika at the GCC head office here on Friday and submitted a memorandum in this regard. State committee leaders Killo Surendra, A. Ashok, K. Chinnam Naidu and T. Ramakrishna were among those who met the GCC Managing Director. Later, addressing a meeting, the sangham leaders said hundreds of tribal people living in the Agency areas of Paderu, Parvathipuram, Anakapalli and Srikakulam districts were dependent on tamarind collection for their livelihood.
