Actor Mohanlal will act as the ‘goodwill ambassador’ of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar has said. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the actor has agreed to be the goodwill ambassador of the public utility without charging any payment. His service is totally free, and he has agreed to act in advertisements for the KSRTC. The corporation is planning to shoot a few advertisements featuring Mohanlal for the KSRTC, making use of services of talented directors, the Minister said. The KSRTC’s ticket collection also set a new record on Monday, with the corporation netting a total of ₹12.18 crore as collection from ticket revenue. This collection was received from 4,952 buses. If other commercial incomes of the KSRTC are counted, including revenue from shops rented out in buildings owned by the corporation and income from petrol pumps, the total revenue on Monday will be around ₹13 crore, said the Minister. In September 2025, the KSRTC had netted a record collection of ₹10.19 crore, which was revised in December 2025 with a collection of ₹10.76 crore. The Minister stated that the record collection is the result of making minor changes in the operations of the buses. The Sabarimala season has also proved good for the corporation with the public utility getting around ₹2 crore more compared to the revenue of the previous year, he added. In the 2020-2021 period, there were 6,202 buses, which has now dropped to 5,502. Further considering the number of buses in the workshops, the available number of buses for services is just 4,952.
