The Student Federation of India (SFI), Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front and Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association adopted a resolution to intensify the struggle to implement University Grants Commission (Promotion of Equity in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2026 and to demand the immediate enactment of the Rohith Vemula Act to ensure justice, dignity and equality in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) at a State convention in Chennai on Tuesday.

Speaking at the convention to implement the UGC equity rules and the Rohith Vemula Act, State president of SFI said, “We shall not tolerate or allow individuals being denied education on the basis of caste. We can’t stand idle. Our protests must continue. They claim it’s given on merit, but where is it? Under its guise, they deny education to talented individuals.”
