Founder-director of Insights IAS Vinay Kumar G.B. has emphasised the need for students to acquire technical skills in addition to acquiring various degrees as degrees alone cannot guarantee employment in a rapidly changing world.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a two-day “Tech Carnival-2K26” organised at GM University in Davangere on Friday.

Emphasising the need to bridge the gap between industry expectations and academic curriculum, Mr. Vinay Kumar said that such festivals contribute a great deal in this regard.

He encouraged students to engage in innovation and show greater interest in research and development. He also highlighted the importance of practical learning.

Product Manager at IonIdea Interactive Private Limited, Bengaluru, Arihant Prasad said that in the world of technology, experience is paramount. He stressed that Indian companies must move beyond production and give greater importance to Research and Design (R&D) to achieve global standards.

Presiding over the function, Pro-Vice-Chancellor H.D. Maheshappa advised students not to pursue education merely for degrees but also to understand how their knowledge can help solve real-life and societal problems.

Faculty members Shivakumar G.J., Shwetha Marigowdar, Shameena Attar, H.S. Kiran Kumar, Rajshekhar G.C. and others were present.
