Andhra Pradesh is likely to see normal to above-normal maximum and minimum temperatures from March to May, according to the ‘Outlook for the Seasonal Temperatures during the Hot Weather Season’ released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday (February 28).

Between March and May, except for most of North Coastal A.P. and one or two pockets in Rayalaseema, where normal daytime temperatures are likely, the remaining State, that is Central A.P. and Rayalaseema, may see above-normal maximum temperatures. The probability of the same is 33.5% and 45%, the report showed.

Meanwhile, most of the State may see normal minimum temperatures during the three-month period. A few pockets in South Coastal A.P. may see below-normal minimum temperatures, while a few pockets in North Coastal A.P. and those sharing a border with Karnataka and Telangana may see above-normal minimum temperatures, according to the report.

In March, maximum temperatures in the State are likely to remain between normal and above-normal and minimum temperatures will be normal for most of the State. A.P. State Disaster Management Auhority (APSDMA) Managing Director Prakhar Jain said central A.P. may experience more heatwave days than usual.

Mr. Prakhar Jain has asked people to keep all precautionary measures ready to protect oneself from the sun. One can apply white paint on rooftops or install thermocol sheets where possible.

In its weekly forecast, the IMD-Amaravati predicted that isolated places in the State may see mist on March 1. There will be a drop in minimum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius in North and South Coastal A.P. until March 3.

While there is no large change in maximum temperatures for the next three days in the State, they may rise gradually from March 4, according to the forecast.
