Srikakulam Collector Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar visiting a patient undergoing treatment at a hospital in Srikakulam town. The Srikakulam district administration is on high alert after the death of a 43-year-old person and the hospitalisation of 76 others owing reportedly to diarrhoea caused by suspected contamination of municipal drinking water. The deceased was identified as M. Suresh of Kandra Veedhi. The district administration has suspended municipal water supply to the affected neighbourhoods like Dammala Veedhi, Golkondarevu, Kaki Veedhi, Manguvarithota, Sarangadala Veedhi, Gudi Veedhi and Kummari Veedhi, supplying water through tankers instead. The municipal corporation has intensified sanitation measures in these areas.
