She received complaints from 30 women, out of which, the officials solved some of them on the spot. Speaking on the occasion, she said, “As per the directions of the National Commission for Women, ‘Mahila Jansunwai’ programmes will be organised across the State during March 8-13 to mark International Women’s Day.” It would be difficult for many women to come to the Commission’s office in Mangalagiri with their issues, so I came here for such women. The women’s issues in Nellore district were directly identified by the officials, and such programmes are being organised in all districts of the State, she said. Ms. Sailaja said, “Thorough investigation will be conducted on each complaint that came to the attention of the commission and a solution will be found. Most of the complaints received were about domestic violence, forced labour, and harassment of the elderly.” She ordered police officers and officials of the relevant departments to take immediate steps to resolve the issues. She advised the police officers to investigate every complaint expeditiously and provide justice to the aggrieved women. The Chairperson clarified that the State Women’s Commission is committed to ensure that no woman suffers. She warned that strict action will be taken against those who harass women.
