In a move to make Andhra Pradesh a culinary tourism hub, the Tourism Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Culinary Institute in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday.

The agreement was formalised at a programme where the representatives of the Indian Culinary Institute and Special Chief Secretary (Tourism) Ajay Jain exchanged the documents.

The collaboration aims to promote traditional Telugu cuisine on national and international platforms while showcasing the rich regional food culture of Andhra Pradesh.

The institute will extend its expertise in developing culinary tourism initiatives and enhancing the global appeal of local dishes.

Officials said the MoU would play a key role in establishing Andhra Pradesh as a prominent destination for culinary tourism. It will also focus on skill development in the culinary sector, creating employment and livelihood opportunities for youth.

As part of the partnership, the Tourism Department and the institute will jointly organise food festivals and tourism events under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority. These initiatives are expected to highlight the diversity and uniqueness of Telugu cuisine to a wider audience.

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, A.P. Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Nookasani Balaji, and representatives of the A.P. Hotel Association participated in the event.
