Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled a roadmap to transform Andhra Pradesh into a major tourism hub, directing officials to rapidly scale up the infrastructure in line with the rising influx of tourists.

At a review meeting at his camp office on Wednesday, the Chief Minister unveiled plans to diversify tourism facilities by promoting houseboats, heli-tourism and seaplane services under the UDAN scheme, with proposed water aerodromes in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Srisailam and Gandikota. Cruise tourism from Visakhapatnam and Krishnapatnam ports is also on the anvil.

Mr. Naidu directed the Tourism Department to increase hotel capacity and ensure the availability of homestays across key destinations, making it clear that there should be no restrictions on their establishment.

“Attract leading national and international hotel brands to key tourist destinations across the State. Prepare a comprehensive plan for establishing amusement parks in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam,” Mr.Naidu said.

Mr. Naidu also instructed officials to fast-track the projects cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) and attract leading national and international hotel chains.

With Godavari Pushkaralu approaching, he called for large-scale homestay development in Rajamahendravaram; introduction of a structured rating system, and the establishment of tent cities for the Pushkaralu.

Suggesting the development of key tourist destinations, including Gandikota, Suryalanka Beach, and Borra Caves as major hubs, Mr. Naidu set deadlines for completing works at the Godavari Pushkar ghats by August and opening the historic Havelock Bridge for tourists by December.
