Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled a roadmap to transform Andhra Pradesh into a major tourism hub, directing officials to rapidly scale up the infrastructure in line with the rising influx of tourists. At a review meeting at his camp office on Wednesday, the Chief Minister unveiled plans to diversify tourism facilities by promoting houseboats, heli-tourism and seaplane services under the UDAN scheme, with proposed water aerodromes in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Srisailam and Gandikota. Cruise tourism from Visakhapatnam and Krishnapatnam ports is also on the anvil. Mr. Naidu directed the Tourism Department to increase hotel capacity and ensure the availability of homestays across key destinations, making it clear that there should be no restrictions on their establishment. “Attract leading national and international hotel brands to key tourist destinations across the State. Prepare a comprehensive plan for establishing amusement parks in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam,” Mr.Naidu said. Mr. Naidu also instructed officials to fast-track the projects cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) and attract leading national and international hotel chains. With Godavari Pushkaralu approaching, he called for large-scale homestay development in Rajamahendravaram; introduction of a structured rating system, and the establishment of tent cities for the Pushkaralu. Suggesting the development of key tourist destinations, including Gandikota, Suryalanka Beach, and Borra Caves as major hubs, Mr. Naidu set deadlines for completing works at the Godavari Pushkar ghats by August and opening the historic Havelock Bridge for tourists by December. He also directed the officials to ensure the completion of projects undertaken under PRASAD and Swadesh Darshan schemes by May 2026. To streamline implementation, Mr. Naidu ordered the formation of a special tourism committee under the Chief Secretary, ensuring coordination among tourism, forest, police and marine departments. Envisioning Amaravati as a creative hub, Mr. Naidu noted that actor Sanjay Dutt has shown interest in investing in the creative economy.
