A.P. CM prays for prosperity and well-being of people on Ugadi

Praying that the Parabhava Nama Samvatsaram brings prosperity and ensures well-being to the people, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said the Ugadi festival reflects the State’s rich culture and traditions. He hoped that it would herald all good things.

The government has resolved to position the Telugus at the top globally by 2047, he asserted. 

Participating in the Telugu New Year celebrations at Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram, here, on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said the Ugadi Pachadi symbolises different stages and experiences in one’s life and that life is all about balancing those things.

He observed that life was a blend of joy and happiness, and sorrows and hardships which everyone has to go through. 

The Chief Minister said the Telugu culture is unique and the festivals are diverse, and all these signify the worship of the almighty and nature together. 

Mr. Naidu said that he had the honour of organising the Godavari Pushkarams for the third time and that the government was geared up for the Krishna Pushkarams.

Nearly ₹1,943 crore has been provided to date to Polavaram project-affected families, he said, and reiterated that the project would be completed before the Godavari Pushkarams. A sum of ₹5,000 crore more is required to complete the project, he said. 

The government is striving for water security for drinking, agriculture and industries, especially farmers who feed the nation, he said, adding that water for raising nurseries would be released by May 15. 

Despite summer, reservoirs in the State have about 65% water storage as on date, he said, adding that the government was committed to developing all regions and cautioning people against attempts to throw a spanner in development works. 

Noted poet and scholar Madugula Naga Phani Sarma read out the new Panchangam. 

Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Kandula Durgesh, MLAs Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Gadde Rammohan, 20-Point Programme Chairman Lanka Dinakar and others were present. 

Later, Mr. Naidu released the TTD Panchangam, Agriculture Panchangam and calendars of the Department of Culture. He also presented 38 Kala Ratna awards and 122 Ugadi awards.
