A dare-devil act of bravery by a head constable helps nab smuggler in Hosur

A video of a police head constable clinging onto the bonnet of a car smuggling contraband substances from the Zuzvadi check-post at the inter-State border in Hosur and the chase that halted the accused on his tracks has rallied accolades for the brave policeman, who had risked his life in the line of duty.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening, when a Gujarat registered car was stopped at Zuzuvadi checkpost. Head constable Rajiv Gandhi had signalled the car to stop, when the vehicle slowed down briefly before speeding up. Unfazed, Mr. Gandhi blocked the car and jumped onto the bonnet, while the accused continued to drive the car for close to 3 km.
