Five individuals were arrested by the cyber crime wing of the Cyberabad police on Saturday for running a job fraud racket that cheated unemployed youth by promising placements in reputed multinational companies (MNCs), particularly Genpact Enquero. The accused were identified as 28-year-old Uppala Venkata Sai Ram, 27-year-old Jalli Karthik, 27-year-old Vinukonda Srikanth alias Manoj, 27-year-old Gurindapalli Priyanka alias Sreya alias Ramyasree, and 46-year-old H.A. Ramesh alias Madhu. The accused were apprehended following technical analysis, mobile location tracking and human intelligence inputs, police said. The case came to light after a complaint was lodged by Gudapati Srikanth Swaroop Naidu, a 32-year-old job seeker from Hyderabad. While searching for an IT job, he was contacted on WhatsApp by a woman identifying herself as Priyanka. She promised him employment in a reputed MNC and gained his confidence. Acting on her instructions, the complainant transferred ₹3.20 lakh through UPI to an account linked to Jalli Karthik. Police said the accused later issued a fake offer letter in the name of Genpact Enquero and even provided a false office address to lend credibility to the fraud. After the complainant purportedly joined the company, he did not receive any salary. When he questioned the delay, there was no clear response, and he was eventually sent a termination letter, following which his access was revoked. The accused then denied responsibility for paying salary or refunding the amount, prompting the victim to approach the police. During the investigation, police found that the accused had impersonated HR executives and company officials by creating fake email IDs and domains closely resembling those of Genpact and Enquero. Sham interviews, forged offer letters and fake training sessions were conducted to deceive victims. Job seekers were induced to pay amounts ranging from ₹2 lakh to ₹4 lakh under the pretext of “backdoor placements”. Police said Uppala Venkata Sai Ram played a key role in managing fake offices, recruitment processes and forged domains, while Jalli Karthik handled bank accounts and financial transactions. Vinukonda Srikanth allegedly provided laptops and technical support to create an appearance of legitimacy, Priyanka handled HR communications and conducted fake interviews, and Ramesh conducted sham training sessions for the victims. Investigators revealed that the mastermind behind the operation, who designed and remotely controlled the fraud, is currently absconding. Fake offices were set up in IT hubs to further establish authenticity, and the goodwill of Enquero following its acquisition by Genpact was misused to gain the trust of job seekers. Police have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid paying money for job offers and to report suspicious job offers to the Cyber Crime Police or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or by dialling 1930.
