Goods worth around ₹20 lakh were destroyed in a fire that broke out at a wholesale grocery shop inside the Koyambedu Market complex in the early hours of Wednesday. The shop, owned by Kovil Mani of Anna Nagar Extension, was locked when the incident took place. Three employees, who were staying on the upper floor, noticed smoke billowing from the premises and alerted the Fire Control Room. Fire and Rescue Services personnel from the Koyambedu station rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.
