A 56-year-old Superintendent at the office of District Educational Officer (DEO) for private schools near Viruthampattu village in Vellore was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) for demanding and taking a bribe of ₹1 lakh from a school correspondent to issue a license recognition certificate. DVAC sources said that the complainant V. Devarajulu, 54, correspondent of a private school in Paradarami village near Gudiyatham town in the district, was running the school for many years.
